ILR clarification on long stay

Post by niketya » Tue Aug 14, 2007 10:06 pm

In my case, I am going to be completing my 10 years as a student + a work permit holder at the end of this month, however I came to UK in feb/1997 for two weeks on a tourist visa and returned home to complete my high school, later returning in Aug 1997. Needless to say I have based my calculation on my student visa entry in aug/1997.

My question is, in the application set(0) form do I put the initial entry date when I came as a tourist (feb/1997) or when I came as a student (aug/1997)?

Many thanks

It should be the student entry date

Did you get ILR OK?

Hi guys, thank you for the clarification. Unfortunately it was refused on the basis of having gaps in my visas.

I have read some of the threads and I think the best thing to do at the moment is to get my personal infomation (SAB) from HO and take it from there.

However, I very much would like to hear from others who are in the same stiuation or have been. As well as from the professionals who have are dealing with such cases.

Thanks

SAB is the way forward, yes.

Okay. So have you decided on a way forward?

Well, organise the SAB information so that it makes sense, so that I can argue my case. Than speak to a immigration lawyer and find out what my options are.

Hi Niketya

I also sent a request letter along with £10 cheque, 3weeks ago but it seems BIA has not encashed the cheque. It looks like they work at a very slower pace than I expected.

Do you remember when did they encash your cheque?

Thanks
Sam

Sam123,

Well it takes a while, so do not be alarmed. Also, we are in the middle of the festive season, so it might take slightly longer. If I am not wrong the cheque was cashed approx 20 days later.

I hope this helps.

Unlike the fee for leave to remain, they take chq as payment and start processing the request. It doesnot matter even they have not cashed the chq because the chq goes to different department for the submission to the bank. You should receive your file within 40 days.

Same happened to me and I actually called the office and they said me the above so rest assured.
