Academic Progression for all ex-students in the UK

Post by mohammed1980 » Sat Feb 27, 2016 7:40 pm

Hello
Has anyone switched to T4 Gen Student Visa as academic progression?
There is a clause in the student visa section -
You can only get a CAS for a new course if you’ve studied in the UK before and you’re:
  • studying for a new qualification at a higher academic level
Has anyone used this route ?

You are not allowed to switch to Tier 4 General from Tier 1 entrepreneur.

I Don`t think you can switch to student from Tier 1 within the UK

What is relevant is the visa you hold now, which supersedes the visa you held previously.

Hi CR001,

Can I have a stupid question please? From reading the guidance, it looks to me that I can't apply to T1 Ent after finishing study in UK? After gradation, it's considered switching as I was last granted T4 general visa?

And can a T4 general dependent apply to T1 Ent while the T4 main holder is still studying?

Thank you

You can switch to Tier 1E from Tier 4G ONLY if you secure at least £50k funding from a UK seed fund or a government department. See page 12 and 13 of the current guide
And can a T4 general dependent apply to T1 Ent while the T4 main holder is still studying?
No. A dependant cannot switch to another category as a main applicant. To become a main applicant, you need to apply for entry clearance from outside the UK.

Thank you for your quick reply. I am clear about dependent now. But if I intend to apply for 200k route, I should not go to study in UK first? Because once I become student, even after completing the degree, I can't apply to T1 Ent anymore?

No you cannot. For 200K route you should apply from outside the UK under Tier 1E. You cannot switch here as Tier 4G holder.
