Also, I may also need to carry my husbands original british passport along with this naturalisation certificate right which I don't have. So it may not work for me.
I suggested it as, as per my understanding, you can submit spouse passport OR naturalisation certificate as evidence.
And it seems possible to get an official copy of naturalisation certificate.
That will have the date on it. Job done.

Ya its a good way indeed to get the duplicate copy which I wasn't aware of at all.
I will apply with plan A first and if things dont work, I should go with plan B. But then also, I should apply for the duplicate naturalisation certificate with out the date of registration question filled.

Ah I see what you mean - its a date required on the request form.
Maybe you can recall at least the month & year.

It also requires contact details/numbers which implies someone may contact the person making the request (ie, in this case, you).
It's not clear if only the naturalised person themself can apply - that's why I suggest it's a secondary plan.

Ya and its a bit expensive also just to get a duplicate certificate, they charge £162. As u suggested,I will leave it as second option.

Hi noajthan,

I met a solicitor to explain my case and to see the confidence level about my case.

As per him,

1. Even if my husband gives his original passport/naturalization certificate to me, I will not be able to qualify for the 3 year stay route being spouse of British citizen. He says, that 3 year route will only be applicable if my husband is British by birth and not through naturalization otherwise, he must have had British Citizenship/ILR by the time I first entered UK. As he came to UK with Tier 1 visa and I came here as Tier1 dependent, and later my husband became British citizen through naturalization, I wont qualify for this 3 year route. This seems surprising to me as I have not read that type of rule anywhere. Do you agree with him? Anyone else has any thoughts on this point?
2. Also he says that, to go with 7 year route with discretion request, it is very hard to show convincing reason for the long absences and most likely they will not give discretion so easily. So now I am in big dilemma whether to go ahead with application or not. My absence is due to me being away as I needed help from my parents to take care of my 11 months old son that time. But I need advice on how to prove that as a strong reason apart from writing the same in cover letter. Any thoughts on how to prove this will be of great help. I got my appointment on 19th Feb with NCS.

Thanks,
vms

This is the first time I'm hearing about this. I'm not an expert but I have seen my naturalized friends successfully going through this route and their wives are British national now.

1) In my opinion & according to my understanding of this area: Totally incorrect :!:

It does not matter how the BC became a BC.
Once a person is a BC and if you are married to them then you are the spouse of a BC.

2) Yes, you will be in the hands of the caseworker & HO rules on discretion in this area.

All you can do is write the facts as they are & were at the time;
for example: first-time child, cultural factors/close family ties etc.

One thing in your favour is it was clearly a one-off absence & it was several years ago - it didn't happen last week.
Since then, you can explain, you have been building life & career & ambitions in UK.

Otherwise, see 1.

Hi,

I have submitted my application at NCS as spouse of British Citizen without his original passport and just had a copy of only the photo page of his passport.
Surprisingly, they said its not a big deal even though I dont have my husband's original passport as they can identify who my husband is through that copy and not an issue. They also said that many wives apply as spouse of British Citizen even though they are legally separated. So it should not be a problem in my case.
They also said that there will be many such cases where husbands dont want to give their passport to wives and home office knows it and wont consider it as any major issue.

But accepting the xerox copy of spouse's passport might be dependent on the council you are applying from as my local council said they wont accept as they need to see original. So I tried in different council.

Just waiting for the result now...

-Regards

Hi,

I have applied for naturalization and I got letter from home office asking for proving my English qualification. I had already submitted my B.Tech certificate and the letter from University confirming the medium of instruction is in English. Also in the Form AN, I chose the option that I passed the life in the UK test after 28th October 2013. I am not sure why they are still asking me to prove the English requirement either by NARIC certificate or by enclosing the PBS calculator points printout showing 10 points for English and 20 points for my graduation. I need to send these before 12th April, otherwise the application will be refused.

NARIC takes 15 working days for the certificate and the fast track is also expensive. I am trying to show the points through PBS calculator. I came to UK as tier 1 general dependent and I don't have my old points print out. Now as the tier 1 general category is not there, I tried to use tier 2 option. It is showing 10 points for English but not showing any points at all for my Professional Bachlors Degree (I chose Engineering with 4 years or less than 5 years option). But the letter I got from home office says I should show 10 points for English and 20 points for my graduation. How do I show these 20 points? Please help.

Thanks,
Vms

Not sure you can still use PBS calculator.

For example see here:
indefinite-leave-to-remain/english-lang ... l#p1329104

You may be better off doing an emergency SELT.

Hi All,

Just to update you all that I have received my Naturalization approval today :D
I had applied for UK NARIC certificates in Fast track for English language assessment and also Statement of Comparability for my graduation done in India. It costed me an additional £250 but well worth the effort rather than taking risk of rejection. The process was very quick and they posted the approval letter on the same day they received my NARIC certificates.

Thank you all for your replies and support.
