Naturalisation as British Citizen and children...Please help

Post by jelena21x » Fri Mar 04, 2016 9:47 am

Hello everyone,
I am EU citizen, currently applying for British Naturalisation. I live in UK for past 10 years and hold Permanent Residence card. I have daughter, born in England 12/2011. I am a bit confused and can't understand, whether she is already an UK citizen / will she become citizen automatically once I gain my citizenship / or do I have to register her through MN1 additionally to my naturalisation application?

Thank you in advance ))

If child was born after one parent was already settled (with PR), parent not even naturalised, then she is British.
Apply for passport.

Once one parent is settled in UK (if that happens after child's birth) she can be registered as a citizen;
- for EEA nationals, settled means has PR status.

No need to wait for parent to naturalise.
Apply under Section 1(3) of BNA; form MN1
Passport is a separate application, made after registration.

When did you acquire PR?
When did you receive PR card?

So from the maths...

No need to wait for parent to naturalise.
Apply to register under Section 1(3) of BNA; form MN1
