That's the exact point I'm trying to make! I always have to smile when I see arrogant and somewhat naive white British people suffering the same indignation with visas that most third-world people have to suffer through.
Her naivity is highlighted by the fact that she "forgot" to sort out her visa, in other words, she thought she could just walk onto a plane with her British passport and that would be that, which, in the case of visiting most countries, it would have been. Unfortunately for her, the Indian government requires visas for British citizens.
In a few years time we'll look back on immigration control like we look back on American prohibition in the thirties - futile and counter-productive.
