Right of appeal to a tribunal to be scrapped?

Post by MikeKorea » Sun Dec 16, 2007 3:45 pm

Our correspondent also said the existing right of appeal to a full tribunal against a decision by immigration authorities not to grant a visa could be scrapped.

He said such appeals, which currently cost between £30m and £40m a year, could be replaced by a simpler and cheaper appeal process.

While the article in the link above is primarily about tourist visas, the way I read this is that the proposal to scrap the current appeal process is a blanket move. Thoughts?

Thoughts? Yeah, I think they are going to scrap the appeals system in due course. This was hinted at by BIA staff at a conference I attended last month.

Dont you think this will result into more cases going to the High courts etc if people think they are being treated unfairly
