Should put a minor on ILR?

Post by Siggi » Thu Dec 13, 2007 2:57 pm

When one apply for ILR, as I do in few weeks time.
Will it be nessary to include my daughter on the application form, considering that the moment I have ILR I will register her as a British national as she was born in the UK.

Although it certainly wouldn't hurt. And it doesn't cost a thing.

I would do it as it serves a backup if there is a problem with Citizenship application. Then at least there is the ILR.

Victoria,

I'm Indian. I'm in the same situation. I have ILR appointment with Liverpool PEO on 20th Dec. My baby boy is born on 14th Nov 07, he doesnt have any passport (only has birth certificate), my plan is to apply for his british passport after I receive my ILR, otherwise if I include his name in my ILR application how will they stamp his ILR (as he doesnt have any passport) or will they issue him a travel document? Please let me know.

Thank you.

Just called Immigration Office, seems you can only include dependent children only if they have a passport.

Very Happy!!

Post by ilr-seeker » Fri Dec 21, 2007 11:20 am

I received my ILR from Liverpool PEO yesterday morning - based on 3.5 yrs Work Permit + 1.5 years HSMP. I carried lots of documentation with me, but they only checked my continous stay with 'Work Permit' department and issued me ILR.

Thanks to all those who helped me, esp. Victoria & SYH.

Bear in mind that it is not always possible to include a child on an ILR application (eg under the 10 year rule).
