COS start/end dates entered wrongly

Post by justdopposite » Tue Mar 22, 2016 5:56 pm

Hi

I've been assigned a new COS, but HR entered wrong start and end dates. Can these be amended on the same COS number ? Or Will I need a new COS with correct info ?
Hoping to make a T2 extension application in a few weeks time.

Many Thanks in advance.

Your sponsor should call the UKVI's Helpdesk about this. Re-issuing the CoS might be a problem due to CoS allocation, cost etc.

Hi Thanks for your reply. Pls see details below for my tier 2 extension

Cos issue date : 20.03.16
work start date in cos : 18.07.16 (current visa expires on 17. 07)
Work end date: 17.07.2021

Will I be okay if I make my extension application on 19th April 2016?

What will be my new visa expiry date pls? As I've already covered 3 years on tier 2?

Personally I think you're applying too early anyway - I was told if you apply more than 2 months before the current leave expires they can reject for applying too early. Crazy, but there you go. Maybe someone else knows for sure.

If I'm applying for my extension after 19th April 2016 this is within 3 month’s to the day that my work date commences, i.e. 18 July.

Tier 2 policy guidance: on page 45, says,

"192. You must apply within three months from the date your Certificate of Sponsorship was assigned. You must also apply no more than three months before the start date on your Certificate of Sponsorship."

I just want someone to confirm this please, as only two issues are COS issued more than 3 months from start date and the end date is done as 5 years when it should have been 3 years.

COS for 5yrs, applying extension for 3 years

Post by justdopposite » Thu Mar 24, 2016 12:36 pm

Hi there

I'm currently on tier 2G for 3 years (2013-2016) , my HR assigned me a new COS for another 5 years (2016-2021).

I will be making an application soon for another 3years only. Does my COS work end date have an impact on my extension application ? will I be granted leave until 2019 (total 6yrs on tier2G) or will my application be rejected ?

Any help will be much appreciated.

Many thanks.

Sorry to bump this topic, but any help on the above query please ? My employer gave me a 5 year COS for my extension, while it should have been 3 years (done 3yrs on tier2 already). Will I have to pay 5 years IHS fee ? or will I need a new COS with 3 year COS ? please help me with an answer. Thanks.

Paying IHS fee after amending COS end date

Post by justdopposite » Wed Mar 30, 2016 12:52 pm

Hi

My new COS is for 5yrs but I can only apply for 3yr extension(already spent 3yrs on T2 general). My employer plans to add a sponsor note to amend the end date to show 3yrs. Should I pay 5yrs IHS and later get a refund or just pay only for 3yrs IHS ? Any other info will be greatly appreciated.

Kindly help.

Acknowledgement from HO after amending COS

Post by justdopposite » Wed Apr 27, 2016 12:38 pm

Hi

My HR amended my work end date on my COS from 5 to 3yrs, by adding a sponsor note.

Is a sponsor note sufficient to correct the 'work end date' ? or do I need an acknowledgement letter / email from HO confirming the change ?

I just want my Tier 2 extension to go smoothly, kindly advice.

Many thanks

mine got edited a few times when I applied earlier this year as an new entrant. no problem there.

Although, I have one quick question
If the work end date is 31/3, so visa expires on 14/4. For the extension cos, do I get the HR to say work start is 1/4, so I can apply 2 week earlier?
Practically there is a max of 6 month window right? I can tell HR to get the uCOS at October for me to apply in Jan, within 3 months of cos assignment , which is just 3 months ahead of the next work start date?

Thanks, did you add a cover letter along with your application to let them know about the changes in COS sponsor note ??

Yes your work start date should be 1/4 , i.e the day after your previous work end date.

Correct, provided you application date is within 3 month’s to the day that your COS work start date commences. This is my understanding.
