Using previous NINO

Post by LisaP » Thu Mar 24, 2016 11:44 am

Hello everyone,
I have some questions and hoping some of you might know the answers. My husband used to have a national insurance number 4 years ago when he was studying in the UK. Now that we are moving to the UK permanently, we were wondering if he has to get a new one or call the hotline and retrieve his old one. Not sure if its like an american social security, that you only get one per person forever.

One person - one number.
Suggest you call HMRC or maybe job centre plus to retrieve it - or does he have any old payslips where he can find the number?
