All Tax Paid Still Confused

Post by notts999 » Sun Apr 10, 2016 9:28 am

Hi
I got my Tier 1 in 2011 on the basis of employment wages £12855 plus self employment £41010. My income limit was 50000. So I filed my tax my self by putting an entry of 41010 for self employment and paid all tax. Than after few months got a letter from HMRC that you have worked for ABC company and they have not paid tax and also you have not mentioned in your returns. so went to the accountant . My accountant contact with the accountant of the other company and they wrote letter to the HMRC and sorted out the matter. But my accountant then change my selfemployment balance from 41010 to 39134. and HMRC pay back 453. all this happen in 2013.
still after changing 12855 Plus 39134 is 51989 i.e 1989 about the requirement. But still my friends telling me that it is change and this should not happen. it is really a deception.
I have paid the second time Tax also corporation tax and remained in employment all the time.

I need some help of what to do while trying to go on window at the end of may for ILR.

Thanks

Your scenario appears to be a genuine mistake and sorted out back in 2013. I don't believe this should pose a problem as you are not making any amendments retrospectively prior to your ILR in 2016 (and for the sake of obtaining your ILR).

You should be fine. However be well prepared with all paperwork if need be to clarify and answer any questions.

Thanks for your kind reply

I still have the old SA302 and the new one both are of 2013 dated
Do you think i should explain everything in the covering letter or wait for them to question me and then explain... should i handed over both the SA302 or only the new one or the old one.

Sorry about my questions.

Thanks

I don't see a need for submitting both old and new SA302's. Just submit the new, however hand carry the old one and all accountant documentation submitted to HMRC at the time for the amendments to be made etc, so you can clarify if at all it does come up.
