English requirement for extension application

Post by atier2guy » Tue Apr 12, 2016 6:25 pm

Dear community,

when applying for a T2 extension, do I need to apply for a NARIC certificate (given that the calculator has been removed) to pass the language requirement?
I've proven English skills on a previous application, but not sure if this new change introduced a few days ago affects extension applications?

It's confusing whether this change applies to new applications or all.

Thank you.
Can you confirm in which cases it applies? For example:
- Is NARIC certification needed for ILR applications, even if language was satisfied in an earlier application via foreign degree without NARIC or English exam?
- Is NARIC required if switching to a different category besides T2?

It would be good to have a list of cases this change would apply to.

Recently CR001 has stated that it's applicable for all visa routes and ILR (Note : as per his understanding). Refer to below quote from the link below.

As far as I understand, it is applicable to all visa routes and ILR.

Read clauses 154 - 158 of the Tier 2 policy guidance.

Thanks geriatrix.

Are you referring to this Tier 2 guideline. Sorry, I could not find clauses 154 - 158.

If you're still unaware of the "Tier 2 policy guidance", try this.

Tier 2 Extension:

No English requirement is required
this applies to both Main applicant or any dependents

Regarding question when it will be needed:
You need to prove again at the time of ILR

Just wondering:

I see this quote in the gov website

Applying to settle in the UK

You can use a B1 level qualification that’s run out if both of the following are true:

it’s on the current list of recognised tests
it was accepted for another UK immigration application, eg when you got permission to enter

So basically you just need the produce the old TRF again?

Regarding extension itself, there isn't an awful lot of info in the guidance
So get a Cos max. 3 months before the currently visa end date and that's it?
Is it worth using the express 10 day service anyway?
