Foreign Passport mandatory for registration of child as BC??

Posting on behalf of my friend .

One of my friends , had delivered a baby girl recently ( in the UK) .

They are indian nationals on a tier-1 general visa and, are due applying for ILR next week . I am aware that kids born in UK are registered as BC . Now the question is if the baby needs a indian passport as a prrof of identity ??

Any help /suggestions is highly appreciated .

No, an Indian passport is not required if the child is being registered as BC and born in the UK.
