ILR/HMP Extension: Can you apply if you are self employed

Post by netacct » Sat Dec 29, 2007 10:28 pm

Hi All,

I plan to form a LTD company and work as an Independent IT Contractor.
Say, when I apply for ILR or HSMP Extension and I don't have any contract work or unemployed, will I be eligible?

Thanks in advance.

It doesn't make you ineligible but if you are not working, they are likely to sit on your application until you do get a job.

The criteria for an HSMP visa extension and also for ILR based on 5 years HSMP include having to show that you have been economically active with your HSMP visa.
In a few years time we'll look back on immigration control like we look back on American prohibition in the thirties - futile and counter-productive.
