ICT changes 2016 and 2017

Post by nik_is_it » Fri Apr 08, 2016 9:35 am

Recent news is ICT Long term will be closed in 2016 and ICT short term will be closed in 2017.

Does anyone know if they are closing the ICT visa then is cooling off restriction also getting removed. Like when my ICT visa will expire will I be able to apply (from home country) directly Tier 2 General visa.

Who said they were closing?

On 24 March 2016, the goverment said

the current intra-company transfer provisions are being simplified by requiring all intra-company transferees to qualify under a single visa category with a minimum salary threshold of £41,500, with the exception of the graduate trainees

ICT Short Term alone is getting closed in April 2017. I think the the Long Term could hence be called as just ICT since the Short Term will cease to exist.

ICT visa to 9Year ICT visa

Post by nik_is_it » Tue Apr 26, 2016 4:37 pm

Hi,

I'm currently on Tier 2 ICT visa (post 2011) category with my ICT visa expiring next year. I have got a job offer with another employer for above 120K (new limit for 9 year tier 2 ICT visa). I wanted to know if I take this new job can I get my current Tier 2 visa extended for 9 years without cooling off period or take some other UK work visa.

Many thanks in advance
Nik

You cannot stay on Tier 2 ICT with another employer. Your current visa is only relevant to your current sponsor.

The only other visa you can apply for is Tier 2 General.

ICT = Intra-Company Transfer (of an existing employee in an overseas office to a UK office).

Yes, or ask the sponsor to pay you £36K more - that will save you from the cooling-off period.
