Naturalisation process- Dependent completing 5 years

Post by manuce » Thu Apr 28, 2016 1:20 pm

Hi,
This is a question with regards to my Partner arrived in UK
Date of Arrival : 8th May 2011 Tier 1 (dependent)
Visa Extension : 31st Jan 2013
English Test (level B1 ):Sep 2014
ILR Granted Date: 9th Feb 2015

Her 5 years will be completed this May on 8th May 2016
My case is with Home office for Naturalization since 12th Feb 2016
My question can she apply for her Naturalisation on her Own after 8th May 2016 ?

Please note that : I know that she can also apply as wife of British Citizen if I get through my naturalisation process faster but it doesn't look like it will be happening very soon as average times are around 3 to 6 months.

I will be thankful for your replies.

Yes, your wife may apply in her own right - ie as section a 6(1) BNA application.

:!: Suggest check English B1 is still valid as the rules on proof of English changed significantly at end of 2015.

Thanks a lot for your quick response .

just checked the gov.uk website for approved tests and centres

https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... l_2016.pdf

so according to the list, level B1 from trinity college is still acceptable for ILR and Naturalisation .

Is what you have a SELT certificate which was taken at a listed, approved centre?
