MN1 Referee - Known for 2 Years ?

Post by Ilr_in_2016 » Wed May 04, 2016 10:02 pm

Dear Experts,

I am applying citizenship for my 5 year old daughter who was born in UK.

With regard to the reference and identity, Could you please clarify if the first referee should have known the applicant (my daughter) for more than 2 years.

Below is the excerpt from the MN1 guidelines

5.1 Each referee should know the child personally. One referee should be a professional who has engaged with the child in a professional capacity, such as a teacher, health visitor, social worker or minister of religion.

Thank You, MaiSaran

No time period is prescribed for referees of minors.

Thank You for confirming the same.

The school teacher who was willing to give the reference has turned down on the advise of her colleague that you should know the applicant for 2 years.

Could I get the reference from the NHS ? I have been registered with the current NHS for year and a half. But my daughter was born in UK in 2011 and has been registered with NHS ever since.

I appreciate your kind help.

Thanks MaiSaran

Teacher is evidently misinformed so you could ask again.

Or a qualified NHS professional would be acceptable.
In fact anyone from the accepted professions list: optician, dentist, pharmacy person, post office official & etc etc.
