renouncing citizenship

Post by new_at_this » Thu Jan 03, 2008 7:22 am

What is the effect on an asylum claim if a person has renounced citizenship to the country of deportation and that country has officially acknowledged the renunciation? Can the US government still deport that person?

Thanks!

As a general rule, if a person's home country will not accept their return, the U.S. won't be able to deport them.

What country is this? Most countries do not allow you to renounce your citizenship unless you have acquired another one.
