Tier 2 General extension queries - Experts please help

Hi

Our current situation:

Tier 2 General visa (3 yrs visa) expiring in mid August 2016
Tier 2 dependant visa (3 yrs visa) expiring in mid August 2016

My company is applying thru its solicitors for my visa extension along with my spouses visa extension in the next week.

In the event the extension gets rejected, I want to know my options.

1. Can I re-apply for extension with the same employer ?
2. Can I switch to another employer and apply for a Tier 2 change of employer ensuring RLMT is done in the event the extension application gets rejected?
3. If I can change employer how many years Tier 2 change of employer I can apply for further?

your expert advice will be highly appreciated.

yes with new CoS

Thanks for your responses, I have just two more questions, in case of extension being rejected I Should be able to stay in UK on the current tier 2 visa to till its expiry? And can reapply for extension anytime before current tier 2 visa expiry?
My current tier 2 is a yr visa, hence I should be able to.extend for another 3 years?

yes, if you continue to be sponsored by your present employer

yes, with new CoS

My current tier 2 is a yr visa, hence I should be able to extend for another 3 years?
for another 4 years (6 years total stay)
