I have applied passport for my new born baby and renewal for my 3 years old daughter. Applications were received on 12th of May and since 21st of May it is still on 2nd stage.

I have booked holidays for my family on 15th of June and really hope will get passport before that. I tried to ring passport office but could not reach through due to high volumes of calls. Is there any alternative way to contact passport office?
!) Application date 19 Feb 2016, Based on 5 year residency, Spouse of EU
!) First letter 16 March 2016 - further letter 15 April 2016 asked for additional letter.
!) 2nd stage letter on August 2016

I do not think the law will be changed now, but it might in future. but nevertheless things seem changed because it has been extremely slow lately. No approvals for circa 3 months. Not sure if it is a change in the willingness or simply they have other priorities. I hope the latest! and that we will hear good news soon

This is the end of the 4th week when they told me im going to hear from them. Oh well! Hopefully It'll come this week. I dont think the law will change. Maybe they're just unsure when the next ceremony, thats why theyre not sending approvals yet. Or maybe a lot of their employees went on holidays because its the summer. We dont know. We're all in the same position here waiting. Remember also the time when they had to changed the april ceremony from 15 to 26. So theres alot of factors that can affect why its becoming so slow at the moment.

Contacted INIS today on 06232500 and asked for
1. Status of application -------was told "submitted to minister for decision"
2. Expected turn around -------was told "by end of July"
3. Next Ceremony ------- was told "scheduled in September and dates not confirmed yet"

Does any one contacted them recently by phone?
There was a while when the phones weren't even being answer, I was told that they were offline, good to know they work again.

I emailed recently and got the response:

"Processing of your application is well advanced and you will be informed of
the Ministers decision in due course.

Regards"

Hopefully this isn't just a generic email.

Haha! I felt that too two weeks ago and last week. But nothing.
I have a gut feeling that this week or the next week. I really really hope.
After the ceremony last december 15, 2015. I have observed that they started rolling out approvals by jan 11, 2016. Which is almost a month after the dec ceremony. Ours is just taking so long. Its been a month and half now since the last ceremony (april 2016).
Hopefully we dont need to wait that long anymore. Besides theres so many people that is on the "advance stage" or "well advanced stage" now. I would say its nearing the finality.

I submitted my appl beginning of May and got the first letter a week ago. (also asked for more documents to be sent).

But I am worried about delays after hearing this morning on the news that there has been a surge of applications by Brits for Irish passports since the EU referendum/vote story started . Now its not clear if its only in terms of passports or is it citizenship applications.... This could be really bad news for some of us who cannot afford delays in our applications! :x Really hope it doesnt affect us.

no problem. they wanted a letter from my local doctor/hospital stating when I registered with them and for which years. Also a criminal reference check from the PSNI. Both docs werent asked for in the application form, probably because Im in Northern Ireland ;) .
