Absence Allowed When Applying for Naturalisation

Post by petervang » Thu Jun 30, 2016 10:34 am

Hi everyone, I hope I am posting my topic on the right forum.

I wish to know what is the absence allowed for a person on NTL when applying for Naturalisation.

I understand that a total absence of 270 days is OK for one to apply for Naturalisation ( As a spouse of British Citizen, qualifying period 3 years).

This 270 days is it a total for full 3 years or there is a limit for number of days per year.

Any Information guidance over this matter will highly be appreciated.

Kind regards.

Assuming you are the spouse of a British citizen and hold ILR.

The absence limit is 270 days in the 3 years and no more than 90 days absence in the 12 months immediately preceding the application.

There is no limit on absence per year as such.

You should also make sure that you were physically present on exactly the same day 3 years prior to your application as the day that you apply.

And no more than 90 days out in the year immediately before application:
