Switching from Standard to priority service

Post by smb2015 » Mon Jul 11, 2016 5:36 am

Hello,

I have applied for Tier 2 ICT extension using the Standard Postal service, can someone help to know how to switch from Standard service to Priority service ?
When I contacted the UK home office, they said that the only way to do it is first withdraw existing application and then reapply with priority service but doing so I will lose the money which I paid for the standard service.
I just wanted to confirm with you is this really the way ?

Another example of the flawed advice frequently handed out by the UKVI 'help line' staff!
Here's the link you need to the relatively new postal upgrade service.

Thanks Casa.

In case of Tier 2 change of employer, is NTL (no time limit) option to select for switching from postal to premium service?

Many thanks

It appears to be, as NTL is included in the drop-down list of options.

Thanks Casa.

The webpage is however misleading as it doesn't show the NTL option!

Hi Casa,

I haven't used the service as yet. Planning to. Its been almost 5 months since the application was submitted (postal). and received the exceptionally complex letter within 3 weeks of the submission date. Not sure if the switch to the priority service will help in this case but 5 months is a long time for a change of employer application! Any thoughts?

Hi Casa,

I think the option to switch from Standard to priority service is applicable only if you are extending your ILR.
I don't have an ILR, I'm on a Tier 2 ICT Long term visa and extending the same. So, which of the below options will be applicable to me or none of them will apply to me ?
SET (M)
SET (O)
SET (LR)
SET (AF)
SET (F)
NTL

None of those apply to your ICT ext circumstances. Those options are ALL for ILR.

What options did you get on the screen before those?

I'm sorry on which screen you mean ?
I came across these options only while filing the form to transfer from standard to postal service here https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... quest-form

I have a Tier 2 ICT Long term visa which is expiring in sep-2016 and I applied for it's extension using standard postal option. Is there any way I can pay 400 pounds and transfer the standard postal service to priority service ? :|

Sorry, thought it was online.

The form clearly says the below, which implies the service is only available for ILR.
Select one option which applies to you. If you did not apply using one of these forms you cannot use this service.

Yes, it mentions that the service is for ILR. That means the UKVI 'help line' staff was correct, I can't change my application from standard to priority service :(
They should provide the same service even for other visa extensions as well.

Hello Mods,

Need your advice.....
Regarding switching from standard to Piority service I was planning to ask my query to prioritypostalrequests@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk
Is it good thought or will it backfire by any means like further delay in my application, etc. ?
I know they have a contact number for in country applicats, but some times those guys are themselves not sure and might give flawed advice.

Dear smb2015, Casa and CR001,

I am not sure about the NTL option myself, I have been waiting for a Tier 2 change of employment application for 5 months. I wasn't suggesting but asking if NTL option could be used for this kind of application? :)

The webpage https://www.gov.uk/faster-reply-visa-application mentions that this service could be used in five kind of applications but when you follow the link for the forms, one can see the NTL option.

Hope this helps.

Also, following the in-country timelines post there is a user who mentioned about switching to priority from postal option (tier 2 application) I won't mention the user name but you should find it on page 74 of that thread :)

The NTL option is only appropriate for people who already have ILR.

Lets try not to be silly!! Nothing prevents you from naming or mentioning a forum username when you post.

Hello all,

I've tried to find some explanation about the "Priority" service (as the thread's name states) - however, most of the links and replies of this thread seem to be related to the "Premium" service.

So, my question is related to the priority one: within 10 days if you’re able to use the Tier 2 priority application service

It's quite confusing and I thought it would be free (since you have to be one of the first 60 applications each day and send them an e-mail), but when I go to the link about it: https://www.gov.uk/tier-2-priority-applications
...it shows a price similar to the premium service (the one you receive a same-day decision)!!!

My situation is: applying for a 3 years Visa General Tier 2 Extension in the UK (no ILR).

So, am I right to assume:
* regular extension £664 (can take 8 weeks)
* Premium extension £1,164 (same-day decision)

Then, if you first apply via the regular way (Is that right?) you can ask to update to "Priority Service" and within 10 days you get the decision BUT you have to pay £1,039 in total (or is it £664 + £1,039?) AND send an e-mail and hope you are one of the first 60 requests?

Isn't better to pay the same day decision from start? Am I missing something?

Also, I don't have ILR: can I use these services (Premium or Priority)?

Hi all,

Anyone to give help with the priority/premium service?

Is it possible to do the application with the priority service already selected?

Hello ,

Has anyone switched from Standard postal to priority service application for Tier 2 general dependent?
Appreciate if someone can help to confirm
1) Whether its possible post the standard postal application has already been dispatched and received at UKBA office.
2) Does it require complete re-application & re-payment of the entire fee or it is only the additional charge that needs to be paid ?

Requesting for some help on this urgently.

Thanks & Regards
msy2016
