vidya,

What we think most of times looks absurd for others..BHC espcially thnks from its A*S.. :P ..so i neednt explain much abt them..

Steve,

The logic which u said looks ok, but again depends on case to case...if they had done all the checks and jus a decision is pending i dont thnk thy wil put the case in waiting..may be they won send cush post dated EC's for verificaiton at all in first place..then we are struck..

For me once E = MC2 proof looked tough, now this BHC loks even more tougher..good things shd be learnt in hard way.. :P

I have received mail reply today.

Dear Sir

Please be informed that your application has not been assessed as yet due to the unusual number of applications we have been receiving. Visa Officers are assessing HSMP applications received in the first week of December 2007. We are trying to deal as expeditiously as possible with the applications.

You may check with us around 28 January 2008.
Yours faithfully

Casework Section
British Deputy High Commission, Chennai.
------------

It seems, applicants who have applied at Vfs, Hyderabad, need to wait some more days..
If I am not wrong you applied on Dec-14th right..I applied on dec-12th going by BHC's mail reply, my application will be taken for assessment by next week..First week of december had only 4 working days and the next working day after that was dec-12th..

Thanks
-Steve

Why do you need a post dated EC?
What is the timeline you need to land in UK after getting the EC. I thought you can go in as long as the EC is valid(2 yrs).

Jason
As per the current rules you need to have 4yrs and 11months continuous stay to qualify for ILR(Which can contain 290 days of break but not more than 90 days of continuous break) , so our situation will be 2(Initial visa)+3yr FLR(Further Leave to Remain), to qualify for this you need to reach UK within 28 days of the visa start date. Thats why I requested for post dated EC so that I can take care of the one month notice period.

-Thanks,
Steve

Hi

Here a clue to all.
One of my friend applied HSMP Extn. just before 3 days to expire. Then he got approval after six months.

He is legally eligible to work in UK during this process time. So, he got six months more time to stay in UK.

It is patently obvious that BHC does not care about our ILR 5 years down the line when they are still contemplating whether to give us initial leave to enter

I had not attached any job offers or interview calls to my ec file - i just gave details that my office in bangalore would get me an opening with the same department in any of the UK offices- so guess mine would also be treated as a less urgent case - going by their logic

Vidya,

Quiet weird isn't it??

Ia this number for all the BHC across india, we can cofirm this if someone replies from BHC mumbai..

If above thing is correct, may be this 5000 looks reasonable...otherwise i dont see any chance that chennai BHC alone got 5000 applications between 03 dec & 28th dec..

Lion,

I guess its possible that chennai might have got 5000 applications between dec3-28th.. I read somewhere that BHC india issues around 2Lakh visas every year..so just do 2Lakh/12 months/4 BHCs you get around 4000 applications(Under the assumption that all the bhc's get equal number of application but as you know chennai gets more than mumbai)

steve,

if 2 Lakhs visa is true, i am not surprised abt the 5000 applications....but if they work with these numbers mainly to take decision, then i thnk we are in deep trouble..cos we can assume the chenai BHC has 30 case worker & say for HSMP there are 5 case workers....out of 5000 thnk there are 2000 HSMP applications...then 400 each per case worker in that month..which means in a 25 working day of a month he has to process 16 per day...if this 16 goes down for this caseworker then the 25 day window will increase...

i thnk i confused..pls bare with me
:P

16 per day comes to around 2 per hour .....one case decided every half an hour

perhaps they have more then 5 full time HSMP case workers.

Can anyone BHC mumbai or delhi applicants - please post first three digits of your reference number.

I got ur message clearly..but I strongly feel 2000 HSMP visa wrt 5000 EC is somewhat exaggerated , it should be somewhere around 1000 ;)(coz we have business visas, work permits, travel and familly visas) so we can say 8 per day that is reasonable..considering all the holidays they had it may take sometime for us to get the results I guess..if some one from BHC mumbai can update with their ref number it should cleat our confusion.

is Vignesh around can he get ref number of his friend who has got approval from chennai BHC, so that we can confirm whether they go via ref number or not..
