Background check for UK work visa

Hi All ,

Please help me out with the below query..

I had applied for a work permit in November and was granted the same in December .In January I applied for the visa (about two weeks back) but the visa has gone for a background check as per the current status.Please guide me as to how long will be the processing time in this case if anybody has a similar experience.I have never been involved in any criminal activities and guess my record has been picked in a random manner .

What is your nationality and where is the visa application being processed?
In a few years time we'll look back on immigration control like we look back on American prohibition in the thirties - futile and counter-productive.
