Visa type and category for wife to join husband in UK

Hi,

I have got my ILR last year(April 2015). Before that I was on T2 ICT long term Migrant Visa (since April 2010). My wife is currently in India and does not have any visa. She visited London Last year on a 6 month tourist visa. Prior to that she was on a dependent visa ( on my T2 ICT long term till 2014, expired in June 2014). No visa from 2014 to 2015 until she applied for visitor visa in August 2015 which got expired in Feb 2016. Now I would like to know which visa type and category she should apply for? I understand she is not applicable for settlement for now as she was in UK for only 1-2 months every year since 2010 so not able to accumulate 5 years.

on the online site - they say that apply for - ‘family of a settled person’ visa. When you follow this link it says - Apply to join family living permanently in the UK. What this means
Should I select
a) Reason to Visit : Visit, Visa type: Family, Visa sub type: long term valid up to 5 years
OR
Should I Select
a) Reason to Visit : Settlement, Visa type:Settlement, Visa sub type: Wife

In addition to the £1195 visa fee, your wife will also have to pay the £600 NHS surcharge.

Your wife should be selecting 'applying alone'. Is she doing this?

Also the amount calculated for IHS is 153000.00is in INR. Not sure what basis has been used to calculate this.

There was no option where it asks if applying alone.

It simply asking to enter the details of the person to whom she is joining in UK.

If your wife is joining you then she needs to put - Settlement - Settlement - Wife, I applied to join my wife a few weeks ago so I was - Settlement - Settlement - Husband. Sorry I can't help with any other point, my IHS payment was the amount I was expecting it to be, no children, no one else travelling with me.

Looking at my situation - is it possible to advise where I am going wrong? why it is calculating 153000 INR. why it is not giving me option for applying alone while calculating IHS. Are my inputs correct :

Reason for visit: Settlement, Visa type: Settlement : Visa sub type: Wife.

Is this visa is same as applying ILR for my Wife or Is it something else?

I do not have access to the visa portal, so I can not advise.

You are not applying for ILR for your wife, but for a spouse settlement visa that could lead to ILR in five years time. Were she in the UK, the equivalent form would be FLR(M).

@visa4uk website - when applying for settlement/settlement/wife visa - i can see two links - 1) Pay for IHS and 2) Pay for application. On the page for Pay for IHS - it is showing the amount 153000 INR amount. Not able to understand if it includes visa fee as well or it is only IHS fees and there will be separate visa fee on pay for application page link.

Sorry to bother on this again and again. Does anyone know how this payment process works on website for IHS and Application fees. Does it show the amount collectively or separately on their individual pages.

YES I I did include my details and entered visa expiry date as 31 DEC 2024 which is mentioned on my ILR BRP Card. I have checked with one of my friend and he suggested to put expiry date as 3 years from now.

DO NOT enterror your details. Your spouse must APPLY ALONE.

NO option for applying alone. It simply ask for my details of the person she is joining with in UK. as the visa route taken as - Settlement-Settlement-Wife.

If you can still access the visa application form, you should go back into it. There is an option for "apply alone" it sounds like you have selected "join or remain with family in UK" at some point in the visa application, this is why the IHS payment is asking for your details too. Your wife is applying alone and when this is selected the correct fee is calculated.

If you are unable to change this selection then you can either make a new application or pay the wrong fees and wait for a refund.

Thanks for the response. I have started the application with visa route as - Settlement(Visa Category) -> Settlement(Visa Type)-> Wife (Visa sub Type). No other questions asked about applying alone or asking join to remain with family.

When I completed my application I went in order of the boxes on the right hand side, confirm/sign application/book biometrics etc. The payment for Visa and IHS are separate, I paid for each of them and had email confirmation as such. If she is travelling alone (like me) and you have selected the correct options then I can't see where the extra payment is coming from, at no time did I come across both payments been lumped together. I did go over it a large number of times to double check it was correct. I totally agree that it might pay to re register and try again.


**EDIT** - I don't know why it is asking for the settlement type for you.......My application never asked for any details from my wife other than her address, nationality, children etc
