Can Sponsor ask Employees to bear visa costs?

Post by jhabak » Fri Aug 26, 2016 8:00 pm

Can a sponsor ask employees to pay the Tier 2 visa fee? Is it legal for them to ask an employee to pay the fees for visa?

I was sponsored by my company, they paid for Visa and not after quitting the company after a year, they want me to bear the cost of the visa.

In this case, am I bound legally to pay or the sponsor bound to bear the cost of Tier 2 visa fees?

It is not an immigration question. It is an issue and arrangement between you and your sponsor.

Most migrants pay their own visa fees anyway.

Yes, it's nothing to do with immigration law.

Did you sign an agreement to reimburse them if you quit? If this was not a condition, it seems to me you have no obligation to pay it back, but on the other hand it is never good to be on bad terms with a previous employer.
I do not give immigration advice. I refer you to Immigration Rules, guidance, other online content and to your sponsor.
