Timeline jargon - what is "email to EEA" or "email to QP"

Post by Geneiva » Mon Sep 05, 2016 8:23 pm

Hi board,

I'm confused by some of the lingo being used in posted timelines in the timeline thread.

Around 1 month after application, some people are posting a date that an "email to EEA" or "email to QP" is sent. What does this email refer to? What is QP?

Many thanks

EEA - EEA national
QP - Qualified Person (EEA national/sponsor)

Thanks, although I am interested also in what the email in the timeline refers to. Am I meant to send an email around the 1 month mark, or receive an email? What is the purpose of the email?

I can't find an example, can you link to one.

You have no need to mail HO after applying, all you need to do is wait.

Must be mails from HO to applicant or sponsor.
Not everyone receives emails, some hear very little.

I see, thank you for explaining, and from the acronym busting up front. Acronym meanings would be great to include in the board's FAQs too, for newbies like me :)

UKVI actually use these acronyms in the names of their documentation etc. EEA(QP) is the current form for "Application for a registration certificate as a European Economic Area (EEA) or Swiss national who is in the UK as a qualified person".

EEA is the European Economic Area, meaning all of the EU member states plus Norway, Iceland and Lichtenstein.
