Who should pay shouldnt pay the visa fees?

Post by aerobharath » Wed Sep 07, 2016 8:36 am

hi,

Im going to apply for Tier 2 extension. When I moved from PSW to Tier 2, I paid the visa fees. Now during extension my HR is little ambiguous about who should or shouldnt pay certain portions of the visa fees. I have friends who are in Tier 2 for whom the company paid everything including their dependent fees. Can someone please help me with this query. Many thanks in advance.

That's between you and your employer. It has nothing to do with the immigration rules.

Most applicants pay it themselves. Some members have reported if their employer paid, they have to pay it back if they leave or change employer for example.

Don't forget you also have to pay the immigration health surcharge.

There is no requirement set by UKVI about who pays the fees. If a Sponosor pays or contributes then great, if not then the visa applicant has to pay.
Unless there is a contractual agreement stating that the employer pays the visa fees , the employer is not bound to pay.
As an aside, if the Sponsor pays that is a taxable benefit.
