Tier 2 General More than 3 Years issue

Post by ash_1 » Fri Jan 22, 2016 9:24 pm

Hi All,

I was on Tier 2 General Visa with my previous company from March 2013 to November 2015, Then I switched my job and the new company offered me a new Tier 2 visa (Upto 5 years) which is valid till march 2019. But I would be eligible for ILR in March 2018.

My question is, I am applying for my wife's visa for the first time, can I apply her as a Tier 2 General Dependant upto 3 years? or do I need to apply for Up to 5 years.
When I will switch my visa to ILR in 2018 I will have to reapply for her visa anyways then. So I am not sure if I really need to apply for upto 5 years visa and pay the extra cost.

Please help.

This is 2016...and your current visa is valid until Mar 2019, so how can your wife apply for dependent visa for 5 years (until 2021)?

Your wife can only apply for visa up to 3 years!!
My advice is based on personal research/experience, so pls check relevant UKVI sources.

Your wife's visa will be issued with the same expiry date as your visa, not a single day longer.

HI,

No that is not the issue. What i meant to say is, for tier 2 you can be in either upto 3 years or more than 3 years... they have different fees. I am on Tier 2 more than 3 years visa, but i will be eligible for ILR after 2 years.

my question is, can my wife apply for Up to 3 years Tier 2 dependant? Or does she have to apply for the Tier 2 More than 3 years dependant?

Hi ash_1,

I am facing the same issue, How did it go with your application? Did you apply for three years or five then ?
