Did the hourly pay fall below the minimum wage rate at the time?

In that case, I have no idea how you would go about resolving it. Wait for Zimba88's views on this.

discussed the solution from a person experience in the accounting payroll field. And he said to add deduction (the amount difference eg. accommodation provide by employer for a certain project)) in to the payslips and amend the hourly pay to the right amount.

This is an accounting error, add the difference to the next month to adjust the hourly pay and hope for the best

Why not add on a little bonus while you're at it - sign of goodwill.

Thanks Zimba,

But the accounting error was made last financial year. Is it fine if we rectify it now.

Thanks

Hi Zimba,

Please advise if the error was made last financial year. But can we pay it as arrears?

Thanks

I really do not know. You need to come up with a solution for this with your incompetent accountant and discuss this with HMRC possibly.

Very well. This could actually be rectified, all depending on the software the accountant is using. I use BrightPay, and I just tried doing it now for the last financial year and it could be done.

1. Re open the payslip (for each individual employee, and for each individual month)
2. Adjust each hourly pay as required.
3. Finalise the payslip. This will activate a new RI/FPS to be submitted
4. Submit the RTI/FPS to HMRC

....and I the Early Year Update (EYU) will need to be submitted to HMRC for the readjusted months/financila year.

I do hope this helps.

No, it wont. By re adjusting the payslip, you'll have a new payslip with the correct rate and you can print that out. And the RTI/FPS for those adjustment could be printed out immediately and attached to previous FPS for the specific months affected

You can ask your accountant to deliver Earlier Year Updates as you cannot amend last year's payroll data at this point of time or you can topup next months pay by the same amount and just mention as additions or arrears

apologies dont mean to hijack this thread... I have had a similar problem

The issue is one of my employees name is written other way round on the payslip.

My employee's name is E ABC... First name " E" and last name " ABC" but my accountant made a mistake and on few payslips its ABC E. He swapped last name and first name.

Any advice please ?

Hi All,

Just paid the difference along with the current salary and mentioned in the payslips arrears under paid for this- this year..... In addition, Accountant has issued a letter saying that during recent internal audit the issue was raised and have been rectified and notified including the employee.

Thanks
