British father, child born abroad MN1 or passport?

Post by mkraja » Fri Sep 30, 2016 9:16 pm

Hi there, can someone help on the course of action in following situation.

Father British (after Tier 1 Gen), child born abroad. Mother and another child never been to UK, not British.

Newborn needs to be registered using MN1 or a passport application should be filed directly?

What documents would be needed?

Thanks

If child was born AFTER you become British (i.e. attended ceremony), then child is British by Descent. You can apply for passport directly but it can take a few months.

Note that passports from overseas can take 6-12 months.
