Are confirmed tickets a requirement for Visitor Visa ?

Post by O_Relly » Wed Oct 05, 2016 1:44 pm

Hi,

My parents have visited me in the UK with a Visitor visa in the past and I am looking to apply again to bring them over to visit us within the next 3 months.

Last time, we submitted confirmed return tickets when applying for their visit visa. Now this time around, the dates are a bit fluid and both parents may not travel together.

Is this a mandatory requirement to submit confirmed return tickets along with visit visa application ?

Apart from the fact that this may add some weight to the application packet that they have confirmed return tickets and will return, I suppose this is not mandatory ?

Looking at UKVI guidance hereand here it does not state return tickets as a requirement.

I would much appreciate if you could share you thoughts / suggestions / and personal experiences.

As far as I know from my own experience, return ticket is not necessary for the application .

Will be when they are ready to come as immigration at the airport "might" ask them for it.

Hi,

Any recommendations for a hassle-free travel / health insurance provider (travelling from India to UK) to cover any medical emergencies ?

I know there are plenty to choose from in the market, but if people have had personal experience, that would be very valuable.

Thanks,

Under the forum Ts & Cs, members are not permitted to post recommendations.

Please don't send me PMs asking for immigration advice on posts that are on the open forum. If I haven't responded there, it's because I don't have the answer. I'm a moderator, not a legal professional.

With all due respect Casa, if you are referring to the forum's T&C's from here, rules quoted below:
Basic Rules for Members (and all other users):

1. No negative comments about someone's nationality, race or religion.
2. No advertising of commercial web-sites.
3. There can be no 'discussion' or 'advice' regarding how to engage in illegal activities (such as but not limited to: how to illegally acquire copyrighted material, work permits, visas, passports or other documents), and no links to websites providing such information.
4. No use of rude or inappropriate language. One must always treat fellow posters with respect.
5. For your own safety, there should be no public posting of any personal contact information.
6. No irritating posting styles, including use of all caps, excessive punctuation and unnecessary bunch of mood icons is allowed.
7. You may discuss freely your personal experiences with various services, but you may NOT name them when you are posting negative commentary. If you wish to post positive commentary, which is your own, direct and personal experience(s), naming of reputable & reliable services will generally be permitted, so long as it does not become advertising or promotion.
8. The language of this board is English, and any posts not in English are liable to be deleted without notice.
9. Attempts to solicit financial partners to circumvent immigration law will not be tolerated

From 7, I interpret that as OK for members to post positive experiences as long as it is NOT promotion ?

Can you please clarify if I have misunderstood the above ? If not then the T's & C's need to be changed/re-written to reflect whichever is correct.
Cheers,

The issue is, that the forum is not able to verify what is 'reputable' or 'reliable' and given the amount of questionable company/solicitor names that have popped up frequently, plus the dodgy ones advertising constantly with the ruse of 'asking or help', we don't permit it. The amount of 'advertising' we removed on a daily basis is substantial.

The T&C's will be updated, given that they were published 12 years ago.

I appreciate it is a lot of work moderating the forum and keeping members safe from dodgy advertisers.
But if you (or moderators) are referring to forums T's and C's to stop or apply restriction on discussion, then it only makes sense to ensure you are NOT referring to something which was published 12 years ago, which you agree isn't relevant anymore and needs to be re-written.

CR001 - Not cool to use your power as moderator to edit my earlier post to remove content where I was pointing out that you were recommending OISC advisers and solicitors when my query was about travel insurance.

If it was an oversight, why not just admit it and move on ? Why delete specific content in your post where you had provided links to OISC advisers and my response where I had pointed out that my query was about travel insurance ?

Was pointing out to you that your recommendation was not relevant as the query was about something else not within the T's and C's ?

I am sorry but this is clear misuse of power and not a good sign to a healthy forum.
