Switch Tier 2 ICT to Tier 2 General

Hi,

I'm in Tier 2 ICT visa and wanted to switch to Tier 2 General. My company is ready to sponsor me work permit for Tier 2 general visa. But I heard that if I wanted to switch from Tier 2 ICT to Tier 2 General I should go back to my country, complete 12 months cooling off period and then apply for Tier 2 general and comeback to UK. Is that true? Isnt possible to switch directly from ICT to general when I'm in UK?

This depends on when your Tier 2 ICT was processed.

Thanks Moonlight. After 12 months, If I apply Tier 2 General and comeback to UK as main applicant, being an employee with the sponsor can I work for other companies as contractor?

No, you cannot contract on a Tier 2 General, it is illegal to do so and not permitted. You can only work for your sponsor.
