! Urgent advise pls.. 1)P60 and 2)higher salary in a month

Post by hur » Fri Jan 25, 2008 3:01 pm

Hi All,

1)My P60 certificate covers the period from april 06 to april 07. But I would want to claim as per the earnings from Jan 07 to Dec 07.
So the P60 partially covers the claim period and also it shows less earnings( only one third of actual Gross earnings as per UK salary slips from Jan 07 to Dec 07 i.e. my claim period).

In view of these, which is more appropriate?
a)furnishing the P60 also to avoid risk (because no clear information whether P60 is mandatory or not)
b)not furnishing the P60 because of disparity(as it partially covers the claim period and also shows less earnings as mentioned above)

2)Because of arrears(not too sure whether arrears reflected in P60 :? ), salary was around £9K in a particular month. Advise required to know how/what to mention regarding this steep increase in salary for that month.

Thanks in advance

Cheers..

1. P-60 is must. Since it does not cover whole period, you need to ask for exceptional consideration. BUt P-60 is must.

2. For the amount you mentioned, dont worry, just explain in cover letter, should not be a problem at all.

Hi there,

I agree with Kapoor- P60 is a must but you have to claim exceptional circumstances...

As for the wage, my friend had one month where wage was more than usual because of back pay etc and it was approved.......They do check the payslips one by one though so it is best to explain in the cover letter.

Hi hur,
Even me too was in same situation I have applied for HSMP extension

I have showed my income from Jan 2007 to Dec 2007

I have also submitted P60 which I got in march 2007. It just shows only a quarter of my earning

Infact I was working here before on workpermit (in the year 2006) but that time I was paid only allowance hence that was not reflected in 2007 March P60. It showed my taxable income only from Jan 2007 to March 2007.

How much amount that p60 is showing is irrelevant here as it is anyway not covering whole period of claim and not going to be used to claim points.

You need to submit P60 even though it is irrelevant to the application

Because p60 is the mandatory document, and now we are claiming exception to show bank statements instead of p60. For that Exceptional circumstances they need evidence. This last year P60 is the evidence for that exceptional circumstance

But there are some cases who have passed without submitting p60 at all. But dont take risk. All caseworkers wont be alike. They may say that they cant consider exceptional situation due to lack of evidence on why you cannot produce tax statement.

The p60 is relevant since it does cover three months of the period for which you are claiming. Very few people will have p60's which match exactly the period for which they are claiming.
