Am I entitled to housing benefit?

Post by Tedmint » Tue Sep 13, 2016 10:04 pm

Hi guys

I am Latvian living in the UK for 12 years, I worked 12 years too, I have never claimed any housing benefit before. I have the Residency document (the blue folding one) Recently,

I have lost my job, am I entitled to apply for housing benefit while I am looking for a new different job? I am currently receiving job seeker allowance for the second week.

Thank you very much and appreciate it.

You are certainly entitled to housing benefit, and you should also make an application for a document certifying PERMANENT residence asap, based on the FIRST FIVE years of your residence, or the earliest five for which you have proof of continuously working.
It will be the same document you already have but with words PERMANENT in it.
You will need to fundraise 65 quid for the application.
