Travel to India on Tourist Visa with British Passport

Hi,

Sorry if I am repeating the question.

I got my British Passport on 24-June-2016

Applied for surrender certificate of my Indian Passport - 1-July - 2016
but still awaiting for certificate.

Applied for eTourist Visa online on 6th July and received granted visa today (7-July-2016) for duration of 30 days, stating I need to carry my British passport on arrival.

Given that I have received valid eTourist Visa (and applied for surrender certificate) can I travel carrying only my British Passport or Do I need to wait for surrender certificate and cancelled Indian passport and those as well? Please help!
(I have emergency and need to travel)

My wife is in the same situation of surrender.
She needs to go to India in two weeks time.
We were told that we cannot apply for LONG TERM VISA (5 yrs, Multiple) until we receive Surrender certificate- Note the proof of Surrender Application is not quite sufficient to apply for visa, it seems.

You are lucky you got e-visa tourist (30 days).

Can you please clarify if we can actually apply for LONG TERM VISA (5 years, Multiple) with a proof of Surrender application recently made, while waiting for Surrender certificate to be issued.

we are still waiting for OCI for my daughter as its getting delayed more than 50 days ...

You can travel with british passport with evisa. I did it twice and they did not ask for surrender details. The visa is for 30 days from the day you land in India. You have to return within the 30 days. PM me if you need more details
