Hi All,

I am new to this forum.

I am a British Citizen, getting married this Nov in India. My Spouse (to be) is an Indian.
After the wedding, once we receive the marriage certificate, within a week planning to apply for Spouse visa.
I am working and financially met the criteria as said in FINANCIAL REQUIREMENT FORM. I have the following list of documents to submit:

Documents from the Applicant:
Covering Letter
VAF4A Form
VAF4A-Appendix2 Form
Sponsorship Form (Form SU07/12)
Passport
Bank Statements (savings account)
Birth Certificate
Educational Certificates
English Language Test Certificate (IELTS)
TB Test Certificate
Marriage Certificate
Engagement and Marriage invitations
Engagement and Marriage photos
Coversation/Chats - online
Photos to submit to VFS

Documents from me (Sponsor):
Covering Letter
British Passport (copy)
OCI Passport (copy)
Pay Slips
Bank Statements (Salary account)
Bank Statements (Savings account)
Letter from the Employer
Contract of Employment
Tenancy Agreement (starting from 1st December)
No objection letter from the landlord

Is something missing from my list? Appreciate your guidance on this.

Your wife will have to pay the NHS surcharge of £600 online before submitting the application.

Your most recent bank statement and salary slip etc must not be older than 28 days. Don't forget to pay the immigration health surcharge of £600.

Below are the clarifications:

Bank Statements (savings account) - no not that much. So, it is not required? can i skip it?
English Language Test Certificate (IELTS) - yes from British Council, Chennai
Payslip - 6 months, latest will be Oct 25th (as planning to apply before 19th Nov)
Bank Statements (Salary account)- 6 months statements.

Few more doubts:

Immigration health surcharge of £600 should be paid along with the application fee or separately?
Also, should i do an online application using https://www.visa4uk.fco.gov.uk/

Not needed as any savings under £16,000 are not counted.

Yes it is an online application process. Don't forget Appendix FM.

Yes, IHS is a separate payment and you must include the IHS reference number in the application.

thanks Sanvij and others - I am (now a BC) likewise looking to apply for my wife + 2 kids who are in India.
so this summary helps

I am currently living with my parents in a 2 bedroom flat - owned by them.
Coming back to UK on 30th Nov after the wedding, then move to the new place (double bedroom) in a semi-detached 3 bedroom house from 1st Dec. The landlord, his wife and a 6 year child live in the property.

So you will only be renting a room then?

You will need a property inspection report if you are not renting a property exclusively for your own use. Probably going to be easier to use your parents property and documents if only the 3 of you living there.

1. Letter from the parents stating that they are happy to accommodate us
2. Housing inspection report
3. Land registry document
4. Mortgage statement.
