Post by faceman123 » Tue Nov 01, 2016 4:52 pm

Hi Everyone a bit confused, on the GOV website it says after 3 years spouse can apply for citizenship? but elsewhere it states 5 years? which is correct, My wife got her visa in july 2015

This is a remnant from when the route to settlement pre July 2012 was only 2 years.

ILR is mandatory before qualifying for British citizenship and the spouse settlement route to ILR is now a five year one.

Your wife will need to complete 5 years on her current visa before qualifying for BC immediately after being granted ILR.
