Dont know how long it will take to process. applying for visit visa as travelling india first week of December,

Hi Hamid,
We have seen applications from the same week as yours being processed and coming up in the last few days, so in my opinion, it could be a matter of a few days now. You could wait for a week or 2 to see where this is.
In any case, a visitors Visa just takes 3 to 5 days and could act as the worst case scenario say 10 days before your travel date.

Hello,

I have submitted my passport for OCI stamping with VFS 2 days back in London. They have not given me any acknowledgement slip to say that they have collected the passport for stamping. Is this normal?

I have not received any text messages as well.

Please can some one confirm if this normal or am I supposed to have received any text messages?

I had dropped them an email on 8th Nov to check the status as it has been more than 42 days. I didn't get a reply, however the status of my application has changed.

So anyone waiting for more than 42 days, I suggest you drop them a status inquiry an hopefully things should move.

I have submitted application on 25/08/2016 and just like you it shows under process. I had sent and email to London High Commission on 28th October to email "info.london@hcilondon.in" to which they replied on 2nd Nov that "Your OCI file has been granted and it is expected that the OCI card will be printed in about 2 to 3 weeks. Please check the OCI status on the link https://passport.gov.in/oci/statusEnqury and when the status shows document received at London, you may follow collection procedure which is on VFS website: http://www.vfsglobal.com/India/UK/contact_us.html"

Still waiting for status to change and documents to arrive in London office; to be able to travel in 2nd week of December. The wait and uncertainty is killing.

Today apply for Visit visa for Mrs ---- as spouse based visa take good few month to process.

Has anyone applied for OCI based on spouse?

If so, please can anyone advise how long you had to wait till the status got "Processed"?

I think if applying for yourself, it takes usual 6-8 weeks, not sure if that's the same time frame based on spouse.

Yes, hopefully expect to get passport back end of this week..

Jay sing- I applied for my wife (spouse based OCI) on 26-08-2016 and still under process.

I send an email inquiry to High commission London - email replay (Spouse basis OCI, we have not yet received clearance from Delhi)

So its all depend how long Delhi - Ministry of Home take time to give clearance. I check at VFS last Friday, they told Spouse based OCI sometime take about 6 months or so.. Good luck.

When you submitted your passport on Friday, was there any kind of acknowledgement receipt, or SMS, email that you received? I submitted the passports on 3rd November Thursday but still waiting to hear back, Its been 11 days now...

Whats the max delay anyone has faced to get the Passports / OCI back by post ?

Hi Sonal,

No, they didnt give any acknowledgement receipt, or SMS, email. Today is holiday in India, so High commission is close.

VFS only took passport, pre-paid self address envelope and copy of printed OCI status. Hopefully this week they will update.

also at the moment whole India in bank queue, may be things bit slow because of that.

I suggest better to email info.london@hcilondon.in to chase it up.

I have also submitted my passport for OCI stamp on 3rd November. So far I haven't received any communication. RoyalMail Tracking also does not show it has been posted.

I came to know from High Commission of India by emails/phone that the passports/OCI have been forwarded to VFS and should be dispatched from there (I always thought High Commission would be doing this.)
So we are following up the VFS to get our passports OCI posted across, as we are travelling on the coming Tuesday morning, a bit tight.. Hmm.
