Son's British Citisenship born after ILR

Post by JS28 » Sun Nov 13, 2016 9:15 pm

Hi All,

I acquired my ILR before my son was born. I am not entirely sure about the process of registering him as British?

1.) How much do we have to pay?
2.) What's the procedure?
3.) What is this process called or direct me to a URL link?

Thank you

Where was your son born?

If your son was born in the UK after you got ILR, he is a British citizen by birth. Apply directly for passport.

If your son was born abroad, his UK status will be in line with the less-privileged parent. So, what is the UK immigration status of your son's mother?

Apply directly for British passport and you will need to submit proof of ILR (BRP).

Hi,

Do I need to send my passport too? What other documents do I submit apart from Birth Certificate?

Thanks

Read the passport guidance notes.

You need to send proof that you were settled (ILR) at the time of his birth.
