After DCPR issued do I have to wait 12 months for BC?

Post by VinGam » Sat Nov 26, 2016 3:15 pm

Apparently you can apply claiming your PR status date.
I came in the UK in Jan 2010 and started to work in Feb 2010.
I applied for DCPR in Feb 2016 and received in May 2016.
Date in my DCPR is May 2016 but when I did the SAR, my PR status date is Feb 2015.

In the SAR in the Minute/Case Notes: section there is the paragraph ENTITLEMENT
Mine said:
The date we can confirm the applicant acquired an entitlement to permanent residence is: 01/02/2015

I will do my BC application next month so I guess I may add it the the notes.

You can't claim your PR date. Trust me - I tried and it didn't work. Actually, HO gave me PR date which was even earlier than I expected so it all worked out good for me.

DCPR does not show the date you acquired PR - only the date the document was issued. By the design of how PR works, the document issue date can never be the date you acquired PR.

Hi Ohara,

I remember you applied for British Citizenship few months ago. You were using your PR status date.
Was your application successful?
I am going to apply on the basis that I was entitled of Permanent Residence in 2015.

Yes I was successful, my PR date was 01/06/2012. When I applied for DCPR I sent evidence for 2009 to 2014

In the citizenship application? No I didn't, but the NCS officer who was dealing with my application phoned UKVI to ask what the date of my PR was. That's how I found out it was 2012 (and a nice surprise too :))
