husband of uk wife in process of uk settlement visa

I am in the process of completing my settlement visa for the uk. In two days I will be doing my biometrics.

I am wondering if anyone knows of the following:
1. How long I may have to wait until the process is complete.
2. How much money is sufficient funds.
3. Should I get my children visas or uk passports.

I should add that we are both living in Canada at the moment.
