Stamp 4 and UK

I'm a British citizen living in Ireland and my non EU wife has been given a stamp 4 to stay in Ireland. The immigration officer told me that with this we can travel to the UK but I'm not too sure as everything I see online seems to say otherwise. Has anyone had any experience with this? We don't get the stamp 4 EU-FAM as I haven't applied as an EU citizen. I was told I get treated the same as Irish citizens being English.

What are you doing in Eire?
And how long do you plan to go to UK for?
How do you plan to travel?

I'm living in Ireland. I purchased a house and Have been here 3 months now.
Only want to go to UK for 2 weeks.
Will take the ferry as I've got things to collect from my parents to bring back to my house here.

She doesn't have a stamp 4 eufam just a stamp 4 as the immigration officer said I get treated the same as an Irish citizen due to being English

Are you a single national or a dual national?
Are you exercising treaty rights in Eire?
You should be able to enjoy free movement rights in Eire if not an Irish citizen.

Single national with British passport. No I'm not exercising treaty rights. I've moved here under the common travel agreement between the two countries. The immigration officer told me we can travel to England with the card as I said but I'm not 100% sure due to things I've read.

No treaty rights so yes its all about CTA.
If partner is not visafree I suspect a visit visa will smooth things along.
