Due For Renewal in February:

Post by eechukwu » Wed Nov 09, 2016 5:45 pm

Hello All,

Please I need some advice:

I am due for a renewal in February 2017. I have been working for the same company for the past 3 years. And they have a valid COS.

Can they just issue me a COS without renewing their Annual Allocation of Sponsorship?

Or do they have to Apply for the Renewal First? How long does the Allocation Renewal Process take?

Hope to hear from you all.

Thanks

they will only have a valid COS if they have applied for renewal of their annual allocation. If they have a COS, then ask them to assign it to you and make sure you have the right salary. I will advise you start the process as soon as possible. Applications seem to be taking about three months now. If your company doesnt have a Cos then they will need to request for allocation and that might take a long time.
Dont waste time, check with you sponsor and let them confirm is they indeed have an unused Unrestricted COS whih can be assigned to you. And then make your application as soon as possible.

1. Allocation of Cos allocation is taking about 1 month now. Your sponsor can get it earlier only if your visa is close to expiry date. Check with your sponsor to confirm if they have an unused cos if not they can request immediately.
2. Confirm your Soc code and find the salary requirement for your job. Google "code of practice for skilled worker" and find your soc code and salary for experienced worker.

confirm the Cos used for your current visa from your sponsor and then download this form to find out how much salary is required https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... l_2015.pdf

Thanks once again.

So on the 10/11/2016 we applied through the UKBA online SMS Service for the renewal of our Annual Allocation which we have not used this year.

WE ARE ONLY APPLYING FOR THE RENEWAL OF OUR ANNUAL ALLOCATION.

Here are my questions:

1) How long does it take UKBA to respond?
2) Do we need to contact UKBA through any other means to make them aware of our application?
3) Do I have any reasons to be worried ?

Hope to hear from you all.

Thanks

You'll have a long wait for the UKBA to respond! They were disbanded in March 2013 due to being unfit for purpose and superseded by the UKVI.
(Casa, not CR001)
Please don't send me PMs asking for immigration advice on posts that are on the open forum. If I haven't responded there, it's because I don't have the answer. I'm a moderator, not a legal professional.

Casa was just trying to tell you that UKBA does not exist anymore as they are now called UKVI.
Back to your question, you should allow an average of 4weeks to get cos allocation.
Calling or emailing business help desk might help especially if you have less than one month left on your current visa.

You are welcome. If by mid December you are yet to get the Cos. You can ask your HR to contact UKVI and ask for update.

Isn't there a new priority service for new COS allocation:
https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... ce-service

Apparently they can get it in 5 days by paying an additional fee.

It seems worth it.

Thanks Guys.

We got the COS today.

Application Date : 10/11/2016
Approval Date: 21/11/2017

it took 6 working days...Hope this info will help other people.

One last thing. Before applying for the renewal, I intend to travel in January just for two weeks, so i should be back before the end of January, is there a chance of me having any issues at all at the border control considering the fact that my visa will expiring in February.

I have been issued a COS with a new Salary that meets the UKBA Requirement. But the new Salary will be taking effect from January. Can i apply for my renewal now or do i have to wait till January just for the new salary to reflect in my payslip?
