ILR and Naturalisation

Post by milindsm » Thu Dec 08, 2016 9:37 pm

Hello

Me and my wife got our ILR in January 2016. When I received both BRPs, we noticed that my wife's BRP is damaged. We sent it back to BRP Error team and got the new BRP for her. My BRP has issue date Jan-2016 but my wife's BRP has issue date Feb-2016 (because it was reissued). Technically, we both are eligible to apply for naturalisation next month as we complete 12 months after ILR.

Would she be able to apply for naturalisation in the next month if the BRP says issue date Feb-2016? Ideally, she should as the issue date is just the date when that BRP card was issued not when the ILR was granted. But I am not entirely sure about this so just wanted to confirm this from experts.

Cheers

If you have the letter your got re ILR, then submit that too. But for the sake of one month, why not just apply in February.

Assuming of course your wife has 5 years residence in the UK too.

I called the council and they said they will call the home office on the day of my appointment. If the home office confirms the start date, they will send the application on the same day. Otherwise, they can hold the application till Feb.

Post moved to your own BC topic. Please refrain from digging up topics that are more than 2 years old and keep all your questions in your own thread.

The employers PAYE reference is what is needed in the tax reference section of the form.
