Surrender Indian Passport & apply OCI in India

Hi,

I have recently got citizenship approval and ceremony scheduled on 8th FEB. I have to leave UK on 10th Mar for 3-5 months. My questions are

1. Can I surrender my Indian passport & childern passport in India and get surrender certificates?
2. Can I apply for OCI from India for children and my self?
3. Is three any difference between applying from UK & India? Do they ask more docs in India for Surrender or OCI?
4. What type of visa do I need to go for once i get British passport? Can I sort out everything before March 10th(getting passport & apply indian visa)

Hi atik,

You can surrender Indian Passport even before you receive British passport. I did it.
All the visa related thing will be quicker if you do it in UK. Why to take risk and unnecessary delay. Staff here must be well trained and it is their daily job and so it will be quicker.
If you want to visit India urgently, then apply for visitor visa which is very quick processing. OCI take 2months.
