Naturalisation Certificate - Damaged

dear friends,

i have accidently damaged my naturalisation certificate after my british passport application (online) was processed.

please can you suggest what to do in this case?

Hi,

it is split into two parts at the point where the emblem is located at the top half. i can put my best effort and probably glue + laminate , which would not look very good.

DO NOT laminate it. It WILL NOT be accepted for your passport application if laminated.

Is the 'corner' completely torn off? How did you manage to do this?

- i applied for my passport ; got the documents returned back to me by post.
- in a split second "lapse in concentration" ..i ended up opening the return postage by ripping the top ..without actually realising there was a certificate.
- this effectively cut through the emblem part.

Keep it safe as it is, maybe just in a plastic sleeve. Unlikely you will need it again if you have already applied for your passport.

You can apply for a replacement certificate at a cost of about £198 if you wish to.

my wife is on ilr
- i am assuming, she needs it for the her application
- can i use my passport at that point instead?

in the event, our baby is born in india
- would i need the naturalisation certificate?
- can i plaster it and then send them through?

£198 for a duplicate / replacement is a pretty expensive mistake!

Hi

I am pretty much in the same boat as you. I have damaged my naturalisation certificate while opening the envelope. However only the Edge is torn from top to bottom and nothing of the contents. I have managed to glue it back.

How did u manage?

1)Did u order for a replacement? Its a expensive affair as I see?
2)I have got my British passport --but will need to Surrender my Indian passport and apply for OCI-- Will damaged certifctae be a problem here.
