Getting married at short notice

Post by Morris » Wed Feb 13, 2008 11:03 pm

Hi,

My Swazi partner has a work visa which is valid until 8th May this year (she originally arrived on a 2 year work permit, and successfully applied for an extension of stay last year). We would like to marry, but I am worried I have left it too late as now she has less than 3 months left on her visa.

Is this an issue?

I understand I would have to apply for a COA in order to marry her, which would normally take 20-70 working days.

Any ideas whether I can still apply for a COA?

Many thanks in advance.

Hello,

That is still possible. Go for COA. The only difference will be that the BIA will ask her to sign the affidvit that the intention is genuine.

Thanks for the reply. Looks like it may not be too late after all!
