Settlement Visa for a British Citizen Mother from Nigeria

Post by Flickers » Mon Mar 20, 2017 10:20 am

I’m looking to applying for a settlement visa for my 67 years old mother from Nigeria to come live with me, just want any advice on how to go about the application. Any information and advice will be greatly appreciated.

Practically impossible, UK doesn't not support chain migration.

She can apply for a visit visa if she meets the requirements and can prove to the ECO that she has strong ties in her home country and that she will leave the UK. She also has to prove her personal and financial circumstances.

Thanks for your response, She is not working at the moment and never worked, I am sponsoring her. She does her own petty trading. If that's the case I might just use EEA Family Permit route, or what do you think?

You cannot use EEA FP route if you are in the UK and a British Citizen.

I haven't technically gotten my Citizenship as I was thinking that can help, I will and can put the application on hold and get her here before applying for my Citizenship, neutralization form already filled is just to send with payment, but as it is now I might just have to wait on that.

What is your nationality then?

Who is the EU citizen that you got the FP for your daughter through?

Has your wife applied for citizenship already?

What evidence of dependency do you have that your mother is dependent on the EU citizen?

She hasn't, we both already filled the form and all that, but hasn't sent them away yet, pending what is best option to bring my mum over.
This is the part I do need more clarification on ' evidence of dependency' She is dependent on me, but honestly i have no clue how to go about the dependency issue.
