Refusal letter sent Signed For 2nd Class

Post by alexjojo » Sat Apr 08, 2017 11:07 am

Hi all,

I would really appreciate some therapeutic advice from those familiar with the inner workings of Royal Mail.

My application has been refused (got IHS full refund - I knew what that refund meant). I called UKVI and they told me the refusal letter was sent on Tuesday 04 April and it should be with me on Thursday or Friday as It was sent via Royal Mail Signed For 2nd Class. They also gave me a tracking number.

But:

"Information on your Royal Mail Signed For™ item is not yet available."

and continues to do so today, 4 days later.

Has anyone experienced this sort of thing before? Did anyone get the decision letter after 4 or 5 working days of posting?

Many thanks.

hello,

royal mail sign for delivery scan only 2 time, first time at collection point and second time on delivery,
but home office sand letter in bulk so royal mail not scan at time of collection,
so tracking details available once letter delivered.

can you please share details of your case,
when you apply? if got any complex issues letter? how much IHS refund you got ?

thanks

Yes I contacted royal mail and they said the same thing.

Applied December last year, no complex issues letter and got a full IHS refund last week.

Most members of the forum got the decision letter within 1-3 working days. I am afraid the letter was not definitely dispatched from HO.

It might have been lost in post or delayed.

Request another decision letter if possible, as otherwise you cannot apply for AR.

Home office don't tell decision over the phone.
They normally send approval letter along with documents through 2nd class recorded post.

Hi Momi, yes they did not tell the decision over the phone. They said my decision letter was sent out but I knew it is the refusal letter as I got a full IHS refund.

Who said if you get full ihs refund then it means refusal?
You applied alone?
How you are sure that you will definitely get refusal other than ihs refund?
I know some people who haven't got ihs refund but their visa was refused.

When you said Full IHS Refund, do you mean the whole £600* (per person) was refunded or the £200 overpayment (depends if you applied alone without dependants)?

You should phone HO and request another letter to be sent out to you. It looks like it's lost in the post.

Yes called UKVI this morning and they said I should wait few more days and then if still nothing I have to write an inquiry to UKVI in Sheffield. Don't know what's happening to me.

Maybe you should consider writing to them now with a print out of the tracking number showing non receipt.

You can say that you've received a full refund, indicating a refusal. Hence, you need your letter reissued so that you can go for AR.
It might be worth contacting a solicitor.

Royal mail did mess up orders recently, it could be 4 weeks for them to relocate the parcels or mails.

I heard from my immigration Lawyer that there was a guy who got all his IHS fee back even though his extension was approved. So don't loose hope you never know if it's an error but do chase it in case. All the best.

Given that the OP now received the refusal letter this topic is now concluded. I suggest the OP to start a new post on his refusal if he needs more advice
