Applying for FLR extension a year earlier ...

Post by mjwall » Wed Feb 20, 2008 5:14 pm

Hi guys and girls!

I have been on the HSMP since April 2005 (received 1yr and then a 3yr extension). Prior to that, I came over to the UK on an Australian Working Holiday Visa for 2 years. Currently my HSMP visa expires April 2009.

I am actively seeking to purchase a UK property with my savings, and ideally would feel more comfortable if I had a longer extension before i went through with the purchase. Also would help obtaining the mortgage!

My question is, am I able to apply for an extension in the upcoming months (Under the new Tier 1 Highly Skilled rules) thus enabling a longer extension and allow me to purchase a UK property and provide solid proof of my intensions to stay longer?

I do understand I can apply for indefinite leave to remain after 5 years has been completed on the HSMP. This would be in April 2010.

Look forward to hearing your comments.

Kind regards,

Matthew
